A few words about us
As far as I can remember I always wanted a dog of my own. We always had a cocker spaniel as a family dog but I really wanted one just for myself!!!
At the age of 18 it began really an obsession. I read anything about dogs and only a few breeds were interesting me in a “theorical point of view”. The whippet was one of them. One day while I was walking in the forest I saw my first whippet “for real”. He was running around his owner with a toy. I was just completly fascinated. What a dog!!! From this time I knew it was a whippet I wanted.
In January 1993 my mother did to me the best present I could ever dream of… A whippet!!!
It was by pure chance that we found my lovely “Mimi” (Eddy Love´s Huckleberry), a solid blue. It could (nearly) have been any other whippet but it was her. I just totally fell in love with her. She made me discover everything and every aspect of the breed, she won several CACs in the show rings, did her best on the racing tracks and lure coursing fields, obtained the title “Highly Recommanded by the French Whippet Club” both for racing and coursing and she became the dam of the very first Taraly litter, her one and only litter and who knew she would by this, marked her stamp forever in our breeding program??? From that litter came the one and only “Spike”, Multi Ch. Taraly Malcolm X and also “Moïra” Taraly Made In Heaven, herself the dam of the two Top Winning brother and sister, “Mojo” Ch. Taraly Stairway to Heaven and “Mia” Taraly Seventh Heaven, both excelles in the breed type and quality we are aiming for………….
The “Dark Side”……………
“Mimi” being a solid blue we heard on the ring sides many “not really kind” remarks about so called “coloured whippets”. We just couldn’t understand how in a breed which accept every colour those colours were kept seperatly. In our opinion the goal of breeding is of trying to improve the breed. If really there was a “problem” with “coloured” then we should try to improve it!!! Not leave it behind just because the (obviously in those people mind) more glamorous brindle partis got more easily the first places in the show rings!!!! So one of our goal always was (and still is) to get quality blacks and blue….. not only quality coloured, just quality whippets!!! So now you can understand why our “Black Power King” got the name we are proud of: Taraly MALCOLM X…….
Our dogs are very important in our lives, they are above all our everyday companions. They live with us and obviously enjoy it!!!
I feel quite lucky that all members of the family became whippet lovers: my sister Nathalie, my mother Liliane and my dad Alexander and of course we all live with whippets!
